Lodging • The Blacksmith Shop | The Blacksmith Shop is Restored Historic Cottage. An authentic historical one-and-a-half-story log structure with a sleeping loft. Spacious, but with a cozy feel, the Blacksmith Shop is often a retreat for honeymooners.

The downstairs is one large open area with a queen bed and sitting area. A Vermont Castings stove with gas logs is in a corner of the cottage, open to the sitting area and the bed. The bath with a shower is also downstairs. A large antique platform tub for soaking (we provide the bubble bath) is on the loft, as well as a twin bed for lounging or housing a third person overnight. The cottage is separated from the Woodwork Shop by the breezeway of the dog-trot building. The rock terrace outside your door provides a private outdoor sitting area. Air-conditioned. All lodging rates include a country gourmet breakfast for two each morning. • Sleeps 1-3 • $149-$259, The average rate is $199.

The Mast Farm Inn is now a Historic Hotels of America boutique hotel. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing and celebrating the finest Historic Hotels. The Inn is also a Select Registry country inn, and has been welcoming guests since the 1800s. While there have been extensive historically accurate renovations and improvements, the hospitality remains rural mountain, traditional, attentive and sincere. Here you will find each room, cottage and cabin unique and different, as befits a North Carolina mountain farm estate built,transformed, and restored over a 200 year period.
